When the iPad Mini launched nearly a year ago, the single complaint among users and reviewers alike was that its screen lacked the incredible definition of it's older sibling, (the 4th-generation iPad). Fast forward to today, and here we are faced with a full-blown Retina-display, iPad Mini. Hallelujah, tech-gods be praised.
Refresh highlights include:
- Retina-Display for the first time in the Mini form-factor. This thing is going to be a looker.
- An A7 processor as well as M7 coprocessor for "pulling data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass." This is a marked difference for the Retina-display iPad Mini, as the prior generation of Minis sported the long-in-tooth A5 chips. Expect great gains in performance.
- Improved Wi-Fi performance thanks to "two antennas and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology."
Incredibly, the technical differences between the newest iPad Mini (Retina) and the iPad Air have been eliminated. They have the same chips, the same design-aethstetics and even the same resolution (2048x1536). Now it just comes down to this: 7.9" or 9.7" screen. (1.8" has never seemed so daunting!) Look FORWARD to this late November release!
