FORWARD! Retina iPad Mini (2013)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

Smaller, but clearer.

When the iPad Mini launched nearly a year ago, the single complaint among users and reviewers alike was that its screen lacked the incredible definition of it's older sibling, (the 4th-generation iPad). Fast forward to today, and here we are faced with a full-blown Retina-display, iPad Mini. Hallelujah, tech-gods be praised.

Refresh highlights include:
  • Retina-Display for the first time in the Mini form-factor. This thing is going to be a looker.
  • An A7 processor as well as M7 coprocessor for "pulling data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass." This is a marked difference for the Retina-display iPad Mini, as the prior generation of Minis sported the long-in-tooth A5 chips. Expect great gains in performance.
  • Improved Wi-Fi performance thanks to "two antennas and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology."

Incredibly, the technical differences between the newest iPad Mini (Retina) and the iPad Air have been eliminated. They have the same chips, the same design-aethstetics and even the same resolution (2048x1536). Now it just comes down to this: 7.9" or 9.7" screen. (1.8" has never seemed so daunting!) Look FORWARD to this late November release!

FORWARD! iPad Air (2013)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

Mini, but not.

Did you simply love the iPad Mini's fresh, clean, compact styling but were put off by its smaller screen? Fear not, since Apple has essentially taken the Mini and made it bigger. (I know, who would've thought?) The chamfered edges, the reduction of the side bezels, and the incredible weight reduction - all while multiplying its technical performance over the last generation of iPads. Apple is full of wizards. There, I said it.

Refresh highlights include:
  • Size/Weight reduction. "1 pound, 28% lighter, 20% thinner, [and] 24% less volume."
  • An A7 processor as well as M7 coprocessor for "pulling data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass." Expect blazing performance.
  • 10-hour battery life.
  • Improved Wi-Fi performance thanks to "two antennas and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology."
  • Slick styling, first coined with the original iPad Mini.

All in all, we're looking FORWARD to getting our hands on this bad-boy come November 1st! (Maybe we should start waiting in line now?)

Finally.

It has been a long time coming, but we finally have the next, true Kingdom Hearts on our radar - Kingdom Hearts 3 is approaching! A handful of prequels, as well as remakes, have precluded this inevitable conclusion - but now it's coming and we are so looking FORWARD to finishing Sora's tale. Although there's no release date in sight, it is promising that they have begun to show off actual in-progess, gameplay footage. This bodes well for a sooner rather than later release date. Stay tuned for more updates and check out the video below!

FORWARD! - inFAMOUS Second Son (PS4)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a dude in a beanie!

Ever want to be a super-hero? Have powers? Deal with the "great power, great responsibility" dynamic? Here's the game for comic-book fans everywhere. inFAMOUS Second Son is the third iteration of the inFAMOUS series and a real looker if the trailer is anything to go by. Cue origin story: Second Son takes place in a dystopian Seattle, Washington(woot woot!) and you are Delsin Rowe, a 24 year-old graffiti artist with no real direction in life before something happens and you develop powers of your own. The gameplay looks sick, the visuals look crazy and we are definitely looking FORWARD to this one! (Bonus points for gratuitous use of the word "look"...look at the trailer below!)

[UPDATE] FORWARD! Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (PS4/PS3/PSV/XBOX360/PC)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

Justified.

[UPDATE] Clarifying the publisher's release plans this evening, a Warner Bros. representative confirmed that the game "will only be released for PS4, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC". There will be no Xbox One version.

The DC Universe. The studio behind Mortal Kombat. Alone these things are incredible, together they melt your brain with their awesomeness. Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game from developer NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros., originally released earlier this last April. This "Ultimate Edition" will include all DLC from the original title along with being available on the PlayStation 4, PC, and PlayStation Vita for the first time. Curiously, the Xbox One is absent from the list of platforms in the press release from Warner Bros.' announcement. Hopefully we'll have more details on that soon. The release date is scheduled for November 12th for North America and November 29th for Europe and "other global territories". Gotta love PR-speak. Look FORWARD to this fighter! (Dibs on Superman)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

Bewitched.

This game looks incredible. The more we see, the more we can't wait for its release, the more we froth at the mouth. Stunning visuals, amazing story, addicting gameplay - this dark/fantasy RPG is everything you would want to finish out Geralt of Rivia's tale. Rest assured, we'll be keeping an eye out for a solid release date when it emerges sometime in 2014. Did we mention we're looking FORWARD to this game? We did? Still frothing.

FORWARD! - Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS3/XBOX360/XBOXONE/PS4)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

For me?

"A cataclysmic event has plunged the land of Thedas into turmoil. Dragons now darken the sky, casting a shadow of terror over a once-peaceful kingdom. Mages have broken into an all-out war against the oppressive Templars. Nations rise against one another. It falls to you to restore order as you lead the Inquisition and hunt down the agents of chaos - your choices will forever change the Dragon Age." - www.dragonage.com

Dragon Age™Inquisition is Bioware's third entry in the Dragon Age™ series and by the looks of it, it stands to be the best yet. Many were turned off by Dragon Age™II's limited scope and lack of exploration, however Inquisition is poised to blow away our expectations - "It's an opportunity with the generation change, as well as the new engine change, to revitalize things," says Cameron Lee, producer on Inquisition. "We've rebuilt everything from the ground up. It's all re-written, recreated content."

We're about a year away from Dragon Age™Inquisition's release in Fall 2014, but we are looking FORWARD to it!

FORWARD! Hunting Sharks - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (PS3, XBOX 360, PS4, XBOX ONE)

"Forward!" is the section of this site dedicated to previews of upcoming Tech and Junk. This is the stuff we're looking forward to. (We are so creative.)

Shark Assassin

If the premise of being a pirate that moonlights as an assassin doesn't grab your attention (ADD anyone?) then how about these next two words. Hunting. Sharks. And not just any sharks, but some of the most nightmarish of them all; the Hammerhead, the Bull-shark and even the Great White! Check out this Eurogamer Interview below!
